Welcome to The Coaching Institute Foundation
The Coaching Institute Foundation was begun by Sharon and John Pearson as a way of providing support and mentoring to high school students who have an area of excellence they wish to pursue. A small grant is provided to the student, a mentor is assigned and they work together as they pursue their area of excellence, which may include sports, music, debating, academia or an environmental project. As well as the grant and mentoring, the mentor works with the student to connect them with an employer in the community who can provide work experience and the opportunity to be a part of the business. Students and graduates of The Coaching Institute provide the mentoring and support at schools near them. The students themselves, through the school, can apply for the grant. The amount of the grant is $1,000 or less, depending on the needs of the student and their application. A full charter is being developed currently. The first committee meeting is being held in July 2008 - from this meeting the key positions on the committee will be decided.
